Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

What is Intensive Outpatient?

Guests may move on to our eight-week intensive outpatient program (IOP) once they’ve completed the partial hospitalization program (PHP) portion of our twelve-week aftercare program. The first phase of IOP lasts four weeks and consists of three hours of group per day, five days per week, Monday through Friday. The second and final phase of our intensive outpatient program consists of three hours of group per day, three days per week. During these four weeks, guests participate in weekly individual therapy, learn life skills, and attend job readiness groups. Guests meet with their individual therapists once a week for the four-week period.

Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

IOP at Royal Life Centers at Sound Recovery

We at Royal Life Centers at Sound Recovery make guests a part of their own treatment. We don’t believe that placing guests in pre-determined, pre-scheduled groups is the right way to treat substance abuse. Instead, we have guests work together with their primary therapist to develop an Individual Service Plan (ISP). Each guest’s plan begins its development in their initial evaluation and is created to identify and meet each guest’s unique needs. Guests in our intensive outpatient program have the opportunity to truly create their own schedule with targeted therapies that are especially helpful for them. Royal Life Centers at Sound Recovery incorporates holistic treatment practices throughout the entirety of our aftercare program, including IOP. In intensive outpatient we provide holistic treatment including group and individual, activity, adventure, and equine therapies, as well as psychiatry with medication management. Guests in intensive outpatient partake in behavioral therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). At Royal Life Centers at Sound Recovery, we exclusively incorporate evidence-based treatments into our therapy programs to ensure the authentic recovery of our guests. Individual and group therapy, psychotherapy, recreational opportunities, relapse prevention, education on gender-specific issues, trauma resolution, grief and loss, anger management, depression, and 12 step meetings are all integrations within our treatment approach. This comprehensive approach is collaborative and affects mental, physical, and spiritual growth that sparks passion and strength in the lives of our guests. We believe that incorporating many different therapies is the best way to discover what works for each guest. Cognitive-behavioral therapy, as well as activity and adventure therapy, are just a few examples offered in out intensive outpatient program. Throughout Sound Recovery’s IOP program, guests work with their case managers to resolve any legal and social issues. Case managers also provide guests with available community resources that offer benefits for their unique circumstances.

Sober Living In IOP

After completing our inpatient programs, guests who would like to continue with us in our aftercare program most commonly will choose to live in our Sober Housing on property. Our Sober housing is only available to current guests who have completed our inpatient treatment programs. We model the responsibility of paying bills and budgeting with low weekly rent for a nice apartment or home that is fully furnished with cable/internet and is accompanied by the safety and security of a sober living staff nearby. Paying rent for sober housing begins after we help you find employment— in phase 2 of the 12-week program. Rent is a weekly cost of $50 (weeks 4-8) and rises to $75 (weeks 9-12). To live in the grad housing division of our sober living, guests must obtain employment. Our employment specialists assist guests at every stage of the job-finding process, from connecting them with potential opportunities in the community to refining interview skills. Our intensive outpatient program includes counseling from our employment specialists.
