Individual Therapy

Individual therapy inspires change and improves quality of life by helping guests to overcome personal obstacles. It can also facilitate the expression of positive feelings by working through difficult situations. Further, building a relationship with a therapist helps foster trust and self-confidence. Through participation in therapy sessions, guests learn how to create and maintain a life free of substances.

Guests meet with their therapist regularly throughout all phases of treatment. The goal is to work through personal issues and come up with solutions to problems. Therapy can also help with:

  • Stress management
  • Treating co-occurring disorders such as anxiety, depression, and bipolar
  • Strengthening relationships
  • Identifying dysfunctional/unproductive thinking
  • Adopting healthy coping mechanisms
  • Low self-esteem
  • Developing positive habits

At Royal Life Centers at Sound, we emphasize the idea that therapy is a collaborative, two-sided treatment and encourage guests to be open with their therapist. For therapy to be effective, guests and therapists need to express their thoughts and respond to one another’s ideas. Our therapy program works in tandem with our medication and case management programs to help guests to build the foundation they need for success in recovery.

Guests work one-on-one with their therapists to design and execute an Individual Service Plan (ISP) that identifies areas of the guest’s life that they would like to change or improve upon. This plan helps guests to break down their goals and objectives into manageable pieces and work toward creating achievable solutions. Breaking down goals into manageable, achievable bits is essential in recovery, particularly early recovery. It gives guests a realistic look at creating expectations for themselves.

We don’t place our guests into pre-determined, pre-packaged treatment tracks because we believe that the best approach to addiction treatment is a custom-tailored plan to fit each guest. Because individual therapy focuses on one guest at a time, therapists get to know guests on a more personal level, and vice versa.

Our therapists are familiar with a variety of cognitive and behavioral therapies and how to utilize them in order to best help each guest.

Individual therapy is just one part of our holistic approach to addiction therapy at Royal Life Centers at Sound. If you are interested in learning more about our programs, please reach out to us at (877)-RECOVERY.
